Every entrepreneur knows that life moves in cycles. Including how busy you are. Change anything in your organization and you could be throwing yourself into a period of long hours. Trust me, I know. We just hired a new management team and have had 3 weeks of intense over-site.
A key to successful leadership however, is not accepting “crazy busy” as a permanent state of being. If that’s the case, you’ve stopped leading and you’re simply doing.
A measure of a successful business is the ability of any one member, including the leader, to walk away for a period without the business floundering.
Today’s tip: do the walk-way test. Schedule a complete day off in the next week and see what happens. Anything that doesn’t work, needs a management system applied to it.
A day is easy, a week would be dangerous – need better systems & team 😉

I couldn’t agree more. Work smarter instead of harder.
It is interesting that you should say take a day off and see what happens! This is often the only way to force yourself to allow the business to operate. Thanks for these quick tips Teresa.
Every fall, my wife and take month long vacations. I cannot leave the business alone for a month at a time (yet), however, I am able to operate successfully on the road with limited wifi and make the same or more money away then while at home.
yesterday I was on the phone with 2 different groups at the same time. I worked my mute buttons like a pro and only at the end did I make a mistake – I hung up on the wrong call.

Thanks.!!! I have still a lot to learn 😉
Wow! Loved this article. Personally I feel I work to hard. There are some days where mentally I feel like I’m going in circles. Just recently I decided I would cut back 2 days a week and see how it goes, so far I’m realizing I’m doing to much and need help 🙂 Thanks for sharing some great information.
